Card Text, Ability & Attacks

Mega Diancie ex arrives with the Diamond Coat ability, a defining trait that gives the card a distinct role in the Mega Evolution era of the Pokémon TCG. With HP 270, it sits firmly in the upper tier of ex cards from this set, offering substantial durability as a Mega Evolution Pokémon.

The Mega Attack mechanic that defines cards in this rarity tier ties directly into the Mega Evolution mechanic introduced in the TCG, where evolving into a Mega form ends your turn but rewards you with amplified attacks and stats. Diancie’s psychic typing adds further depth for players building decks around this card type.

Set Information

The Ascended Heroes set is part of the ongoing Pokémon TCG release calendar, continuing the tradition of Mega Evolution spotlights that collectors have pursued since the mechanic’s introduction. Cards numbered beyond the printed set total, such as 267/217, are consistently among the most pursued in any given expansion. This particular card is printed exclusively as a holofoil, making condition especially important for collectors targeting high-grade raw or professionally graded copies.

Condition Guide

Condition matters significantly for a holofoil card like Mega Diancie ex 267/217. Here is a brief guide to help you assess what to expect:

• Near Mint (NM): No visible scratches, clean edges, and full holo pattern intact. The preferred condition for raw set collectors and grading submissions.
• Lightly Played (LP): Minor edge wear or one to two small surface marks. Still display-worthy and often acceptable for binder collections.
• Moderately Played (MP): Visible whitening on edges or moderate surface scratches. Suitable for players who want the card for gameplay rather than investment.
• Heavily Played (HP): Significant wear across edges, corners, or surface. Generally not recommended for grading submission.

If you are purchasing with grading in mind, near mint raw copies offer the best opportunity for achieving high population grades. Always sleeve holofoil cards immediately upon receipt to preserve condition.

Why Collectors Pursue This Card

Cards with print numbers beyond the set total, such as 267/217, carry a natural collector appeal rooted in their scarcity relative to base set cards. The Mega Diancie ex card combines that numbered rarity with a popular Pokémon character, a clean holofoil finish, and strong in-game stats, making it attractive across collector, player, and investor audiences alike.

Psychic type Mega Evolution cards have maintained consistent interest in the secondary market, and Diancie as a Mythical Pokémon adds a layer of character desirability beyond pure card mechanics. For those building a complete Ascended Heroes master set, this card is among the essential pulls to track down.
