Scarlet & Violet Paldean Fates is a special Pokémon TCG set released in English in January 2024. It brought Shiny Pokémon back to the spotlight with hundreds of Shiny cards, and it remains a favorite of collectors who love sparkling alternate colors and illustration rares.

Shiny Pokémon Return

Paldean Fates introduced two Shiny rarities. Shiny Rare cards are marked with one sparkling star in the bottom left corner, and Shiny Ultra Rare cards are marked with two. Most of the set’s Shiny cards live in a large secret rare section, so every pack has a chance at one.

Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares

The set’s Illustration Rares and Special Illustration Rares show Pokémon and Trainers in new scenes. Highlights include a Shiny Charizard ex with crystalline Tera art, a Mew ex Special Illustration Rare, and Trainer cards featuring Iono and Clive, all of which are popular with collectors.
