Pokémon Temporal Forces: Set Guide, ACE SPEC Cards and Products

Scarlet & Violet Temporal Forces released in March 2024 and expanded the Ancient and Future theme that defined the Paradox era of the Pokémon TCG. It also brought back ACE SPEC cards, one of the most powerful card types in the game. Here is what makes Temporal Forces worth opening and collecting.

Ancient and Future Pokémon

Temporal Forces built on the Paradox Pokémon introduced earlier in Scarlet & Violet. Ancient Pokémon, like Walking Wake ex, are prehistoric forms of familiar Pokémon, while Future Pokémon, like Iron Leaves ex, are futuristic versions. Many Trainer cards support one side or the other, which makes deck building around Ancient or Future themes a big part of the set.

The Return of ACE SPEC Cards

ACE SPEC cards first appeared in 2012 and returned in Temporal Forces. These are extremely strong Trainer cards, such as Prime Catcher and Master Ball, but you can only include one ACE SPEC card in your entire deck. That restriction makes choosing your ACE SPEC an important strategic decision.

Featured Pokémon ex

  • Walking Wake ex: the Ancient cover Pokémon, built for powerful Water type attacks.
  • Iron Leaves ex: the Future cover Pokémon, whose Rapid Vernier Ability lets it switch into the Active Spot and move Energy when played from your hand.

Illustration Rares

Temporal Forces features Illustration Rares that show Pokémon in everyday scenes, plus Special Illustration Rares of its ex Pokémon and Supporters. Trainer cards like Morty’s Conviction are popular singles for players and collectors.
